Love is our true essence, and other lesson from Amma.

“Love is our true essence.” Amma, the Mother of Immortal Bliss.

Love is our true essence, and other lesson from Amma.

If you have not heard of Amma, a Hindu Spiritual Leader and Guru, aka “The Hugging Saint”, then let me introduce you to her and some of her teachings briefly. What I know for sure is that when something ‘jumps” out at you three or more times, it is a sign from the Universe trying to get your attention. I first heard about Amma a few years ago, and ever since she keeps popping up in my life and I am glad she does.

Amma is known as “The Hugging Saint,” because according to her website, “for the past 35 years Amma has dedicated her life to the uplifting of suffering humanity through the simplest of gestures — an embrace.  She lives from moment to moment in a constant state of supreme happiness, warmly embracing thousands of people day after day, wiping their tears, giving them her divine guidance and offering solace to all who come to her.”

She is also known for her humanitarian work which includes a program to house the homeless, build orphanages, and provide relief-and-rehabilitation in the aftermath of disasters such as the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. Her charities provide free medical care, pensions for widows and disabled people, aid environmental-protection groups, renovate and urbanize slums, build care facilities for the elderly, and offer free food and clothing for the poor.

Like any person in the public eye, she also gets her fair share of critisism, but one can’t help but feel peaceful watching her in action, or reading some of her teachings. Because she keeps popping up in my life, and because I feel peaceful just looking at her, I’d thought I’d share some of my favorite Amma quotes with you. May you feel hugged and at peace as you read these quotes I selected for you. Virtual Hug! ((())))

Some awesome Amma sayings:

  • Our real father and mother is God. Others are only foster parents
  • The love that exists in the heart cannot be spoken; it cannot be put in words
  • Realize that the real problem is not what is happening, but how you are reacting to it
  • Discontentment is the real poverty; contentment the real prosperity
  • Never forget God. Never forget your real Source. Never move away from the real center within you
  • Only by giving will we receive
  • Facing the different situations of life with a positive attitude and openness brings maturity and understanding
  • It doesn’t matter if one believes in God or not as long as he or she serves others
  • Forgive. It is the way to Peace and Love
  • Even when you work, your thoughts should be on God (Love). Any work you do while focusing your mind on God is karma yoga
  • There is no difference between the Creator and creation, just as there is no difference between the ocean and its waves
  • Patience, constant enthusiasm and firm determination are necessary factors for success
  • Never return anger with the same. An angry person needs to be calmed down, not aggravated
  • When your heart is filled with nothing but love, all of Nature will be your friend and will serve you
  • When understood deeply, painful experiences have a positive effect on our life
  • Every moment of life is so utterly precious, such a rare opportunity. We should not waste it
  • Pray: May none of my thoughts, words or deeds ever harm anyone
  • Love is our true essence
Take Action Challenge: See if you can just focus on giving love to everyone you meet this week, including yourself and see if you can hug at least one person per day for a week. Who is the first person you will hug?

A Quiet, Joyous Expectation of Good

“The Law of Expectations: Whatever you expect with confidence tends to materialize in the world around you.”  Brian Tracy

“Today I live in the quiet, joyous expectation of good. ” Ernest Holmes

Today I was having a conversation with some family and friends about how amazingly warm the temperature is on the east coast right now. (They like to rub it in as I live on the west coast. :)) While we were talking about the warm weather,  I noticed my conversation drifting into a negative place and  I heard myself say,” That’s scary though, imagine how warm the summer will be?”

Later that day I was listening to the “Trust Your Vibes” radio show and Sonia Choquette was talking about the same warm weather and how amazing it was. She also said, “many people say it’s scary, but really it is a gift. Can we just all allow ourselves to enjoy it?”

I was so glad she said that, as it made me realize that I had a negative expectation and fears that the east coast summer is going to be way too hot. While it is true no one can predict how the summer will be exactly, it made me realize that instead of finding fear in what is happening now and what might happen tomorrow, what is important is to enjoy each day, and  like Sonia said, ” see it is a gift to enjoy.” I am also open to letting go of negative expectations about our weather and to shifting my thoughts to seeing a calm, beautiful perfect summer for all.

What negative expectations can you let go of about the planet or about your life? Affirm and visualize the future you do want.

Affirm: I appreciate all the gifts that nature offers me.

If you still have any fears about our planet and the environment, then I invite you to let them go and  join me in saying this beautiful prayer. It was written for earth day but it still works perfectly well today, as every day is earth day. Earth Day Meditation, Doreen Virtue – YouTube

Get Financially Fit in 2012!

“Shame does not create change.” Dr. Robyn Smith

Many people, including me echo the statement that 2012, is the year of transformation. For me, one of  the areas of my life that I needed to transform was my finances. While money always seemed to come into my life at the perfect time, I was really bad at saving and managing my money, REALLY bad!

Since becoming a life coach last year, one of the things I learned, is that all successful people have a team of support around them. I decided  to get really honest with myself, (without shame or judgement) and realize that I needed support and I am so glad that I did!

After doing some research I decided to hire Money Coach Elaine Lang. That was 9 months ago and I have to say that I have had a complete turn around in my finances. (I think Elaine would agree). In just one session, she saved me hundreds of dollars! Elaine is a master at negotiating with banks and bill companies for better rates.

I thought I could not afford to hire Elaine, but the truth was, I could not afford not to! Hiring a money Coach has been one of the best investments of my life. It has not only enhanced my savings, but my self-esteem as well.

Some questions to ask yourself regarding your finances:

What will my life look like a year from now if I don’t clean up my finances?

What is the one action regarding my finances that I have been putting off?

What support could I put in place to get financially fit in 2012?

If you think hiring a money coach is for you, I highly recommend Elaine.

Arrange a consultation by contacting money coach, Elaine Lang.

Affirm: My pleasure in saving money, exceeds my pleasure in spending money.

Be Exactly Who You Are!

“Don’t you ever let a soul in the world tell you that you can’t be exactly who you are.” Lady Gaga

I was watching one of Lady Gaga’s latest music videos tonight and I was just in awe. The video was so creative, wild, fun, funny and inspiring! Lady Gaga inspires me to step out of my own box, out of my comfort zone, become more of who I already am and live my own dreams. After watching the video, I was sooo inspired and I wanted more Gaga, so I said to myself, “I wonder if there are Lady Gaga quotes on the internet?” Dumb question!  Google “Lady Gaga quotes” and see what comes up. TONS!!

After looking through a whole page, I picked some of the ones that really inspired me and thought I would share them with you. I hope they inspire you as well. What I know for sure is that when we each live our own lives to the fullest, we unconsciously inspire and liberate others to do the same as well.

Here are some of the best Lady Gaga quotes I found:

“… I want the deepest, darkest, sickest parts of you that you are afraid to share with anyone because I love you that much.”

“I had a boyfriend who told me I’d never succeed, never be nominated for a Grammy, never have a hit song, and that he hoped I’d fail. I said to him, ‘Someday, when we’re not together, you won’t be able to order a cup of coffee at the fucking deli without hearing or seeing me.”

“‎Do not allow people to dim your shine because they are blinded. Tell them to put on some sunglasses, cuz we were born this way bitch!”

“Don’t you ever let a soul in the world tell you that you can’t be exactly who you are.”

“And now, I’m just trying to change the world, one sequin at a time.”

“When you make music or write or create, it’s really your job to have mind-blowing, irresponsible, condomless sex with whatever idea it is you’re writing about at the time.”

“I used to walk down the street like I was a fucking star… I want people to walk around delusional about how great they can be – and then to fight so hard for it every day that the lie becomes the truth.”

“If you dont have any shadows you’re not in the light”

“I remember watching the mascara tears flood the ivories and I thought, “It’s OK to be sad.” I’ve been trained to love my darkness.”

“All that ever holds somebody back, I think, is fear. For a minute I had fear. [Then] I went into the [dressing] room and shot my fear in the face…”

“Do you know the feeling, when your heart is so hurt, that you could feel the blood dripping?”

“People will always talk, so lets give them sumthin to talk about”

“You’re love is nothing I can’t fight. Can’t sleep with a man who dims my shine. ”

“As artists, we are eternally heartbroken.”

“I just I felt like a freak, I guess what I’m trying to say is, I want to liberate them, I want to free them of their fears and make them feel that they can create their own space in the world”

“I’ve always been famous, it’s just no one knew it yet.”

“I want you to walk out of here tonight not loving me more, but loving yourselves more.”

And that last Lady Gaga quote dear friends, is what I want for you as well.

Louise Hay’s 12 Commandments – How To Love Yourself

Louise Hay is one of the most loving people on the planet. These 12 commandment’s by Louise really helped me (and still do) to love myself more and I had to share them with you. Print them out and/or share them with all you love.  Enjoy!

Criticism never changes a thing. Refuse to criticize yourself. Accept yourself exactly as you are. Everybody changes. When you criticize yourself, your changes are negative. When you approve of yourself, your changes are positive.

Let the past go. You did the best your could at the time with the understanding, awareness, and knowledge that you had. Now you are growing and changing, and you will live life differently.

Be gentle with yourself. Be kind to yourself. Be patient with yourself as you learn the new ways of thinking. Treat yourself as you would someone you really loved.

Self-hatred is only hating your own thoughts. Don’t hate yourself for having the thoughts. Gently change your thoughts.

Criticism breaks down the inner spirit. Praise builds up. Praise yourself as much as you can. Tell yourself how well youare doing with every little thing.

Find ways to support yourself. Reach out to friends and allow them to help you. It is being strong to ask for help when you need it.

Acknowledge that you created them to fulfill a need. Now you are finding new, positive ways to fulfill those needs. So lovingly release the old negative patterns.

Learn about nutrition. What kind of fuel does your body need in order to have optimum energy and vitality? Learn about exercise. What kind of exercise do you enjoy? Cherish and revere the temple you live in.

Look into your eyes often. Express the growing sense of love you have for yourself. Forgive yourself while looking into the mirror. Talk to your parents while looking into the mirror. Forgive them, too. At least once a day say, “I love you, I really love you!”

Don’t wait until you get well, or lose the weight, or get the new job, or find the new relationship. Begin now–and do the best you can.

Remember the things that gave you joy as a child. Incorporate them into your life now. Find a way to have fun with everything you do. Let yourself express the joy of living. Laugh. Rejoice, and the Universe rejoices with you!

Which commandment(s) will you begin trying this week? I am going to be more gentle with myself and exercise more. Have a great week.

Here is a short little meditation on accepting yourself by  spiritual teacher Osho.

Accept yourself meditation

Affirm: I have an infinite well of love within me.

The Six Steps to Achieving any Goal

“People with clear, written goals, accomplish far more in a shorter period of time than people without them could ever imagine.”

– Brian Tracy

This blog post is about the six steps to achieving any goal, large or small. Knowing these steps will change your life, propel you into action and get you feeling excited and inspired by yourself. I will be writing about each step in more detail in upcoming blog posts, but for now here are the 6 steps you can begin using right away. They are fool proof and work every time!  The six steps to achieving any goal are:

1. Decide what you want.

2. Put it in writing. Studies show that people who write their goals down are more likely to make them happen.

3. Put some support in place. All successful people have a team of supportive people around them.

4. Create a vision board: Cut out pictures of your goal as a reminder of your goal and look at it daily. If you are not a visual person, then writing a paragraph about your goal also works.

5. Create an affirmation. For example, if your goal is to lose weight, you could write something like; “I am now my perfect weight and I feel great.” This helps to create the feeling you want to achieve  and activates the law of attraction and will make  it happen more quickly.

6. Take action. Write down 5 action steps you can take right away. Make sure they are small, manageable and doable.

I hope this inspires you, gives you a great tool for life and inspires you to go out and achieve ANY goal. Have a great rest of the week,  you little goal achiever you!

Which steps do you need to put in place to make sure you achieve your goal?

Affirm: I now know how to  achieve my goals easily and effortlessly and I am so excited.
